Workplace

People with disabilities have rights as Canadian citizens. One of those rights is to employment. Employment provides income, opportunities and experiences valuable to all Canadians. Many people with disabilities have had difficulty getting employment. This has been because employers and co-workers may believe disabled people cannot work as well or as hard as people without disabilities. It can also be difficult to get a job unless you are able to get the supports you need to work including the right technology or human assistance. The government has a responsibility to prevent discrimination based on disability and to work with employers to create better environments for disabled workers. The following are links to more information regarding policies that affect you in the workplace.
