The Disability Policy Website of the Dis-IT Research Alliance is organized into three themes: Employment, Income and Disability-Related Supports. These topics were chosen as the three areas central to the needs of people with disabilities in Canada. The topics were initially chosen for the Voluntary Sector Initiative Connecting People to Policy that ran from March 2003 to March 2004. The Initiative, organized by staff-persons of the Council of Canadians with Disabilities (CCD) and the Canadian Association for Community Living (CACL), focused on these three themes as crucial elements of disability policy in Canada. In the tradition of this community initiative, we are organizing the site around these themes in the hopes that future community initiatives and reports can be hosted on the relevant section of the site.
